While I’ve been gaming quite a bit, and painting a lot as well, this Blog has definitely taken a back seat. Mostly, I’ve been painting and playing Bolt Action over the past few months.
On July 11th, I organized a Bolt Action tournament at the local store. We had around a dozen participants, fewer than I had hoped.
I borrowed three scenarios from a Warlord Games publication, making only a handful of minor changes. They were similar to, but different than the standard scenarios found in the rule book.
I was pretty happy with the terrain I set up, and most people seemed to appreciate the work that I’ve put into it over the past few years. I feel that you really need to have interesting, and appealing terrain, especially for a tournament.
Some were old hands, veterans of the Bolt Action version 2, and some had only started playing after version 3 was released. I myself barely played version 2, so I’m mostly familiar with the latest version of the rules.
I thought it went well, and everyone enjoyed the experience. I hope to run another in a few months, possibly in December 2026.
