Miniature Hobby Gaming

Oh! It's like an addiction!

Retro Rev War

I’ve recently started painting up my original wargaming figures; 25mm Revolutionary War miniatures, originally produced during the 1970s by Custom Cast, and later Heritage Models, and later still Iron Brigade Miniatures.

I’ve looked around the internet, but finding information on this line of figures is next to impossible. So, over the next few months, one of my goals with this site is to document this line of figures, and show you my painted versions of them.

I’m going to start by showing the catalog information I have for them, though that is fairly limited. But still, it will provide a quick view of what this line of figures included, and maybe someday I’ll be able to present an example of all of them on here. As of now, I own a majority of them, but there are a few holes that still need to be filled.

  1. I enjoy your blog and hope I can register to follow it. I love the 25mm figures and have a lot of Custom Cast in my collection as well as the even older Minfigs S range and before then, the Stan Wall line. Keep up the good work, Hal Thinglum

  2. Hello,
Interesting to see this! I have a large painted collection of CustomCast “Continentals” started in mid 1970s when line first came out in Dayton, Ohio. I helped Duke’s sculptor, the late Stan Glanzer, with illustrations from my extensive AWI library. My collection is focused on war in Carolinas from Camden through Eutaw. I am author of William Washington – Cavalryman of the Revolution (2001 & 2007) and also published set of rules in The Courier in late 1970s (The Whites of Their Eyes; out of print but privately revised by me since then).

I love the old catalogs with drawings instead of photos. I too have a number of Custom Cast “Colonials” in my AMR armies.

About Me

I’ve been painting miniature figures since I was young, and playing games with them for most of that time. You’ll learn a little bit about me over time as you read my posts, if you visit this site from time to time.
