Miniature Hobby Gaming

Oh! It's like an addiction!

Second Battle of the Aisne, April 1917

We played a game today recreating a portion of the 2nd Battle of the Aisne in April & May 1917. The particular section was the advance by a large number of Schneider CA.1 tanks; the first significant use of tanks by the French during the Great War. I’ve selected a few of the best pictures that I took during the game. Hope you enjoy seeing them.

German defenders occupy the town of Juvincourt in the middle of the French attack zone.

Schneider tanks lead the attack on the left flank.

German defenders in the Third Line.

Close up of the breach through the German wire.

Reinforcing French Infantry Company moves up in the middle of the attack.

Late advance on the French Left, with some tank losses.

Schneider tanks advance on the on the now empty German defenses on the French right flank.

An image showing most the table halfway through the game.
